It is very easy to get to Makrigialos because there is only one main road network on the island...

 

Air Travel

There are 3 airports on Crete.  The main one is in Heraklion which is the capital of the island.  It is roughly 2 hours to Makrigialos by car. The second largest airport is Chania situated in the North West.  This is at least a 5 hour drive to Makrigialos.  The third airport is Sitia which is a 40 minute drive away.  This has been a domestic airport up til now.  However it is scheduled to start operating as an international airport from this year which will make travel to Makrigialos that much easier.

Ferry Service

There are daily services between Heraklion and Piraeus there are two companies, Minoan Lines and ANEK Lines.

There is also a bi-weekly service between Sitia and Piraeus with LANE Lines

 

Bus Service

KTEL (National Bus Service) run an excellent service connecting all major towns daily. Buses are air-conditioned. However, as you may need to change for local connections it can be time consuming to say the least. 

 

Car Hire

We can arrange for a car to be waiting at the airport or port for you.

 

Taxi

Alternatively if you don’t wish to drive yourself we can arrange a taxi pick-up.
