Aspros Potamos (meaning White River due to the lime which is washed down the river bed with the winter rains) is a small hamlet at the base of the Pefki Gorge  approximately 1 kilometre from Makrigialos. It is a protected area,very peaceful  set in the olive groves.

The cottages in the hamlet were originally owned and used as overnight accommodation by the inhabitants (and their animals) from Pefki when they came down to pick their olives.

Almost all the cottages have been carefully renovated and modernised yet still retain all the wonderful characteristics found in Cretan rural cottages.
